Detection Purpose
Canine Cortisol (cortisol) is a sterol produced by the canine adrenal cortex.Cortisol is a steroidal hormone produced by the adrenal cortex of the dog, and it helps to keep the body's blood sugar constant, reduces inflammation, and helps the body manage stress. Various disorders caused by abnormally high levels of cortisol are called Cushing syndrome (CS), which can occur in both dogs and cats and is more common in dogs than cats. It is more common in dogs than in cats and is most likely to occur in middle-aged and older dogs (approximately 7 to 12 years of age). The disease develops slowly, and early symptoms are not easy to detect. The diagnosis of CS can be confirmed clinically by adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) stimulation and dexamethasone suppression tests, and its different types: adrenal-dependent (ATH) and pituitary-dependent (PDH).
Detection Principle
This product is a fluorescent immunochromatographic assay for the quantitative analysis of cCortisol in serum/plasma. Basic principle: T and C lines are drawn on the nitrocellulose membrane, the T line is encapsulated with an antigen a that specifically recognizes cCortisol antibody, and another fluorescent nanomaterial-labeled antibody b that specifically recognizes cCortisol is sprayed on the binding pad. cCortisol in the sample first binds to the nanomaterial-labeled antibody b to form a complex, which then moves upward to chromatography and competes with antigen a on the T line, and cannot be captured; on the contrary, when there is no cCortisol in the sample, the antibody b will compete with T line, and cannot be captured. The complex competes with the T-line antigen a and cannot be captured; on the contrary, when there is no cCortisol in the sample, the antibody b binds to the antigen a, and the nanomaterial emits a fluorescent signal when the excitation light is irradiated, and the strength of the signal is inversely proportional to the concentration of cCortisol in the sample.
